Item Special Note
2006 2007 2008 2009 Vertical of Veedercrest
Mt. Veeder Pym Rae Vineyards (Robin Williams) Cabernet Sauvignon (100% cabernet).
Robin Williams was the developer and owner of one of the best vineyards at the highest point on Mt. Veeder. Wines from this vineyard over the years were only made by three wineries of which Veedercrest was one. The wines are uniformly lauded. Various vintages have received scores of 92-93 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and by wine critic James Suckling (former Senior Editor/European Bureau Chief Wine Spectator), was ranked "Perfect" Cabernet (100 points equivalent) by the Decatur Magazine critic at the International Wine and Food Veedercrest Event, London, England, and recently garnered "World's Finest Cabernet by the Oregon Wine Society.
Multiple Double Gold awards have been bestowed on these wines by the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and the American Fine Wine Competition.
Following Robin Williams death the vineyards were purchased by Alfred and Melanie Tesseron of Pontet Canet, Paulliac, and co proprietors of the Tessaron Cognac. Consequently these special wines will not longer be available from Veedercrest. Enjoy while you can!
Veedercrest is one of Napa's oldest wineries, having been founded in 1972 at the encouragement of Andre Tchelistcheff who found the amateur wine making skills of Alfred Baxter, founding winemaker, to be worthy of commercial consideration. A partnership was formed with Ron Fenolio and the Ring Family of New Jersey and Veedercrest was founded with vineyards at the peak of Mt. Veeder. The wines of Veedercrest were honored to be selected by Steven Spurrier to be in the now infamous Judgement of Paris. Ron Fenolio still owns Veedercrest, making award winning Napa wines in the European style as pioneered by Alfred Baxter.
