Dance Off The Grid: New York State DanceForce Artists - Saturday, March 10th - 8:00pm
Three companies take to the stage for the series premiere. One will make you think, another will make you laugh, all will leave you breathless. Join the Emelin and NYS DanceForce for a spectacular evening of dance!
This season’s Dance Off The Grid premiere is presented in partnership with The New York State DanceForce which is committed to increasing the quantity and quality of dance throughout the state. The evening features three world class dance companies including the performance based artist, dancer, choreographer Adam H. Weinert, the highly rhythmic and uproariously irreverent Bang Group, as well as a third artist yet to be announced.
Adam Weinert will perform excerpts from “Monument” that combines beautifully revived works by such legends of modern dance as Doris Humphrey, José Limón and Ted Shawn with original contemporary choreography. Witness a master recreate classic dances from the early 1920s and 30s with ingenuity, reverence, and grace.
The Bang Group will perform three works – the solo “Song & Dance” where choreographer David Parker will take the stage to sing and tap Mozart’s “Turkish March,” the amusing duet “Two Left Feet”; and the trio “Turing Tests” in which the dancers use their bodies to perform the musical score “Perfect For The Bang Group,” by Dean Rosenthal.
Third artist to be announced; please check emelin.org for updates to the Dance Off The Grid program.
