Item Description
Own a piece of Nacogdoches history!
This bowl has been hand turned by William Sowell of Will's Woodwork's and is turned from a piece of Catalpa Wood. This particular of piece of wood came from a tree that grew in the atrium of the historic Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches. This tree has been a part of Nacogdoches history since the hotels beginning in 1955.
In pictures dating to the 1950's this tree can be seen standing tall, seeming to be growing out of the hotel. Generations of travelers, as well as locals have enjoyed the uniqueness of the atrium with it's water features and the majestic Catalpa tree. For decades tame ducks and other birds call that this area home.
Unfortunately 2015 the tree had to be removed due disease and rot. The new owners of the hotel wanted to preserve some of the history by using the wood to create this bowl.
The majestic tree that once stood tall is gone but hopefully the memories will live on for generations to come through this bowl.

Please bid carefully because a portion of the auction proceeds will fund scholarships for SFA students.

All winning bidders will receive an email notification of a winning bid. You will be contacted within 10 business days to determine how you will receive your item. Receipt of your item(s) will be handled by:
- Items are available for pick up at the Alumni Center no earlier than October 27, 2017 and no later than November 30, 2017.
- Shipping/Handling is NOT included in the final bidding price. If shipment of your item is required, please contact the Alumni Association for shipping costs at 936-468-3407. All shipments will be sent by November 30, 2017.
Once item is paid for winners will have until 11/30/2017 to pick up items or arrange shipping. Items not picked up or shipped by 12/01/2017 will be held and put in the 2018 auction
