Our mission at Anasa Yoga is to improve the health and well-being of our students, empowering them to live life more fully. We are committed to deepening community connections by providing quality instruction through a variety of class offerings for new and experienced practitioners in a welcoming and inclusive environment that honors diversity.
The “Anasa” in Anasa Yoga, has a dual meaning. In Sanskrit, the language of ancient yoga text it means- “indestructible”. In Swahili it means- “a place of comfort and joy”. Anasa is also, “Asana” the Sanskrit word for "seat", and yoga pose - spelled backwards...a little wordplay connected to the practice.
Anasa Yoga is conveniently located off of Hwy 580 at the High St. Exit (4232 MacArthur Blvd. Oakland, CA 94619). We are centrally located to several neighborhoods including the Laurel, Millsmont, Maxwell Park, Allendale, Redwood Heights, Sequoyah Heights, Dimond, Fruitvale, the Oakland Hills, and Mills College.
Anasa Yoga is the only green certified yoga studio in Alameda County. In the spirit of ahimsa, the yoga teaching of non-violence or non-harming, our green yoga studio helps to protect the environment and the people of our community. Our green building features include: sustainable yoga props; bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource, as flooring material; low VOC paints; LED lighting; formaldehyde-free, reused, and reclaimed furnishings; Energy Star kitchenette appliances; and a bike rack at the front entry. Our sustainability goals are to prevent waste, conserve energy and water, and use all resources efficiently.

This item must be picked up on Monday, November 27th or Tuesday, November 28th at the Urban Montessori Charter School Brann Campus, 5328 Brann Street Oakland. Due to the cost of shipping and limited volunteer availability, items will not be shipped.
