Item Description

This autographed racket marks a life dedicated to creating an unmatched legacy on and off the court. It embodies everything a legend is and inspires others to make their own mark in the world. Becoming one of the best athletes of all time doesn’t happen by accident.

John Patrick McEnroe Jr. is a retired American tennis player often considered among the greatest in the history of the sport, compared to Pablo Picasso with a tennis racket instead of a paintbrush. He was known for his shot-making artistry and volleying skills, as well as his confrontational on-court behavior that frequently landed him in trouble with umpires and tennis authorities. McEnroe won 77 singles titles, 72 in doubles competition and was ranked No. 1 in the world in both categories, compiling an 875-198 career record in singles and a 532-103 mark in doubles. The combined 149 titles are the most in the Open Era, highlighted by the 1979 season in which he won 16 singles and 10 doubles titles, also the most in the Open Era. At the time of his retirement, McEnroe’s 875 victories were fifth best in history.
