A case of one of the greatest wines ever made can be yours with this prize of 6 bottles of Sassicaia 2014 vintage!
From James Sucklling's review: "Extremely aromatic with black currant, strawberry and cherry. Some rosemary. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a gorgeous finish...lovely potential and balance. Delicate and fine."
From the Wine Advocate review: "The nose is redolent of bright fruit and blackberry. Spice, tar and leather appear subtly at the back...the wine is a stunning example of what it takes to make great wine, even when weather conditions are not in your favor.…this has a hauntingly beautiful aromatic quality of lilies, violet, cassis and cherry, which in sum is utterly beguiling. In the mouth it is demure and delicious with bright succulent acidity and an almost Burgundian sweetness and structure, replete with filigree tannins. Here the fruit is youthful raspberries and red berries with a hint of savoury graphite and violet. In comparison to other, more broad shouldered, Sassicaia vintages such as the 2012, this is altogether more delicate and lacy, yet still retains great length and precision. This is...so precociously good and drinkable now that it will take some resistance not to pull the cork sooner rather than later. That said, it would easily repay another decade in bottle…”
About the Sassicaia 2014
As the Sassicaia 2014 unwinds it begins to release pretty aromas of red and black fruits along with fresh violets and wet stones all taking shape. This wine has a fine texture and silky mouthfeel leading into a long finish, where red and black fruits combine with pretty florals and linger.
Sassacaia, one of the original 'Super Tuscan' wines, is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Cabernet Franc, and is known for its supple texture, elegance and perfume. Located on the estate of Tenuta San Guido in Tuscany's coastal area of Bolgheri, Sassicaia vines are rich with aromas and flavours of red and black currants, cedar and tobacco, suave tannins and great length.
Sassicaia is one of Italy's most famous wines, with many vintages considered some of the greatest wines ever made, anywhere in the world. In 1994 the Italian government recognised its superior quality by granting Sassicaia its very own appellation - Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC - which is the only DOC appellation inn Italy that is contained within one single estate.
