Retreat to the glorious island of Sicily for a week of luxury vacation! You and three fellow travelers will stay in the picturesque Villa Zagara surrounded by Sicily’s enchanting beaches, stunning mountain vistas, historical sites, and of course incredible food and wine!
About Villa Zagara:
Set on a country estate among luxuriant citrus groves, Villa Zagara lies in one of the most beautiful corners of Sicily, snug between Mount Etna and the Mediterranean Sea. Spacious and refined, with idyllic gardens, a conservatory and belvedere, a large swimming pool (16x7m) and a private tennis court, it is the epitome of stylish Sicilian country living: it comes with a full staff, including an inspired chef.
The owner, a passionate gardener, has created a magnificent landscaped garden featuring pines, oleanders, acacias, carob trees, agave and yucca palms, along with aromatic Mediterranean plants such as bay, lavender and myrtle. The much-prized palmetto, an impressive garden devoted to the cultivation of palm varieties from all over the world, is sided by an exotic desert garden with a collection of cacti. Crossing the garden, one reaches the comfortable conservatory furnished with ample and very comfortable sofas and a beautiful lava stone fireplace.
The house features bedrooms decorated with traditional furniture and antiques, each with either a private terrace or direct access to the garden. On the upper floor a library and a belvedere with a stunning view of Etna create spaces for meditation and yoga. A swimming pool, sauna, and tennis court (floodlit for playing at night) add the final touch to a stay in this splendid villa. The fascinating grounds contain nature trails, archeological remains and even prehistoric caves.
The Tunisian chef fuses influences from North Africa with traditional Sicilian cuisine, using mostly organic local produce. The chef will be at your service to prepare any and all meals, though please note that the cost of groceries is not included in this prize (villa staff can take care of the actual shopping though!).

Accommodations are subject to availability, and scheduling is at the discretion of Ariella’s Villas and the property owner. Space for additional guests may be requested, at an added cost of $1,500 per person (maximum capacity is 16 guests at Villa Zagara).
Airfare is included in this prize, for four round-trip economy class flights to Sicily from the United States. This prize covers flights valued up to $2,800, or $700 per person. These numbers are based on average rates for flights between New York City and Sicily. Please note that the majority of routes are not direct, and often include a stop in Rome.
The Drama League's official air line is Delta Air Lines, and whenever travel options are available through Delta on the dates and route requested by the winner, the Delta flights will be given preference in booking.
PLEASE NOTE: In order prevent credit card fraud, if the winning bid exceeds $1,000, The Drama League of New York will require a signed credit card authorization form, a photocopy of both sides of the purchasing credit card (all but the last 4 digits may be blacked out), and proof of identity (state-issued photo ID – private ID numbers may be blacked out), OR payment via check or money order before arranging the prize package for the winner.
