Carol's Bio:
While on a youthful journey around the world looking at people and cultures, I became fascinated with ancient pottery. People and clay had been engaged in a very long and intimate relationship. The record of whole civilizations spoke out from clay. In Japan, I saw the pots not only residing in museums of the past but were still made and used every day. A potter’s life looked to me like a decent way of life.
Upon returning home, I become a pottery student of Marguerite Wildenhain. She was a Bauhaus graduate and had immigrated from Europe to settle in California.
Each piece is thrown on a traditional potter’s kickwheel. The clay is porcelain. I’d like the handmade pot to be an integral part of people’s lives, bringing beauty and joy to daily living.
