Item Description

Not everyone surfs so Guy creates surfboard art which can be enjoyed by all. Combining the art of shaping, the surfing lifestyle, Guy’s artistic nature, and love for the ocean brings unique and beautiful works of art that complement any room. All of his art pieces are fully functioning water crafts but are truly meant to be admired in any space.

Guy’s process in building each board starts with his overall design. He then shapes, draws and leafs every one of these original art pieces. He has chosen four different models according to their shape, length and decade that they were popular. His inspiration comes from the feeling of the very unique resin color and flow and only then will he start the one of a kind board.

Born in 1964, a native of Southern California and of Japanese, Hawaiian descent, Guy was raised in the surfing and board shaping traditions of his father, Raymond, and Uncle, Donald.

Learning to surf at an early age, Guy was winning and placing in many surfing contests which includes the West Coast Longboard title, Professional Longboard Championships (1995) second place, International Longboard Surfing Championships in Japan (1989) first place, International Tandem Championships (2005) first place, and the prestigious Leroy Grannis award 2003.

Guy's hand shaped surfboards are long considered to be the "Ferrari of surfboards" by many in the surfing community. A recent addition to Guy's surfboard line are his dramatic art boards, with his hand painted characteristic gold, silver and variegated leafing that reflects reverence for his culture and love of the ocean.

A man of many talents, Guy has also worked for decades with professional athletes and Olympians in the sports rehabilitation field, utilizing his gift of intuitive energy to promote health and wellbeing.

Another passion of his is supporting many non-profit charities such as the Wounded Warrior program, SurfAid, Best Day Foundation, Texas Blind Surfing Association, Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club, Tri-City Medical Center Foundation the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, Helen Woodward Animal Center and his own Guy Takayama Foundation.

The board is 5’8”
