Item Description
Private stock compliments of Roy J. Maier's grandson, Ryan Scott Maier.
This is the first vintage of the 2003 “ROY J MAIER” Cabernet Sauvignon. It was bottled at the Estate wine production facility on June 12, 2005. This wine, entirely grown and produced at Saint Helena Road Vineyard’s Estate, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Merlot (10%), Malbec (5%), Cabernet Franc (4%), and Petite Verdot (1%). It has been aged for 20 months in 59 gallon 100% French oak barrels, 70% new.
Winemaker's Notes: Vintage 2003- The beautiful dark ruby color is followed by aromas of cassis, violets, roasted coffee, red berries, and liquorice. On the palate, you will taste flavors of cassis, vanilla, liquorice, coco, and chocolate. Good structure, spicy, long nice smooth finish with velvety tannins.
