Item Description

The Magical Display of the Arts and the Friends of Lama Tharchin at Pema Osel Ling retreat center, have designed and crafted these hand-painted seed syllables on raw silk over a stretched canvas frame. This seed syllable "DZAM", the essence of all wealth deities, is painted in radiant gold paint on red-colored raw silk.

The calligraphy of these seed syllables was created by Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, and is in the style of the Repkong tradition of Tibetan Nyingmapa yogis.

Seed Syllables are the unborn natural sound of dharmara, the nature of reality is great emptiness, free from dualism. Deities are actually wisdom, and wisdom is never based on dualism. All deities are connected to an individual seed syllable, called heart – essences seed syllables.

All ordinary syllables from which we form words are connected to an object or a dualistic thought. Whatever ordinary words we can imagine turns our minds toward material or mental objects. This continues without conclusion, never reaching a point of exhaustion. All speech actually originates from and concludes in dharmata. Wisdom seed syllables, however, remain free from dualism, they are never connected to any finite object. Thus it is wisdom sound that has the natural capacity to benefit and penetrate beings.

DZAM

Dzam is the heart-essence seed syllable of the Five Families of Dzambhala, the wealth deities. Normally we see a statue, a painting, or thangka of Dzambhala, or this heart-essence seed syllable as a support for Dzambhala and all wealth deities, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. DZAM has three parts representing the three kayas. The tigle (circle at the top) symbolizes dharmakaya; the da-tse (moon crescent underneath the circle) symbolizes sambhogakaya; and the DZA letter represents the nirmanakaya. The Dza-la (flag shaped on top of main letter) has a hidden hook shape that on the relative level removes sentient beings’ poverty, while it magnetizes or hooks devas’, nagas’, and humans’ wealth and prosperity, longevity, lineage, merit, wisdom, good fortune, reputation, and any other kind of desirable, glorious qualities. On the ultimate level, the enlightened body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of the Buddhas are hooked and drawn toward you.
