Item Description
Mores Mountain Hike
Mores Mountain provides 3-4 miles of beautiful mountain trails just 20 miles north of Boise near the Bogus Basin Ski Area.
Native plant experts Roger Rosentreter and Ann DeBolt will take up to 4 people on a hike around Mores Mountain to look at plants – preferably sometime between June and August.
Wildflowers, shrubs and trees will be identified, and the plant's ecology and ecosystem values will be discussed. More than 200 plants have been identified for this area, so come prepared to learn, as well as enjoy the beauty.
Ann DeBolt
Ann has worked as a botanist in southern Idaho since 1986. Prior to joining the staff at the Idaho Botanical Garden in 2007, she was a botanist for land management agencies including the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service Rocky, and National Park Service. Ann studied botany at the University of Montana and Oregon State University. She has taught wildflower courses for the Sawtooth Science Institute, lead wildflower walks in the Boise foothills for many years, and taught native plant landscaping courses for the College of Western Idaho and Boise State University Horticulture Programs.
Roger Rosentreter
Roger retired from a 35 year career with the Idaho Bureau of Land Management working in the sagebrush steppe. He has authored nearly 100 scientific publications and is an author/co-author of six botanical books. In 2008, he received the Idaho Weed Hall of Fame Award. In his spare time, Roger is an avid kayaker and naturalist.
