Item Description
This statue of three rising dolphins is made of bronze set on a black marble base. The backs of the dolphins are a teal-dappled black while the chests are a gleaming copper-gold.
The sculpture was made in a foundry, with a wash of nitrates, sulphates and acids that reacts with copper in the bronze at high heat to form a mottled patina. A clear coating applied over the finish prevents wear or corrosion.
The piece is 17" high by 13" wide and weighs 10 pounds*. The work is signed on the base by Donjo, the sculpture, in 2000. Donjo's sculptures are intended to increase public awareness of the need for protection of endangered marine life.
