Item Description
Gary Zimmerman was a standout lineman at the University of Oregon from 1980 to 1983 and played two years with the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League before joining the Vikings of the National Football League in 1986.
A seven-time Pro Bowl selection, Zimmerman also earned first- or second-team All-Pro honors eight times. He was named to NFL All-Decade Teams for both the 1980s and 1990s.
Zimmerman’s pro career included a streak of 169 consecutive starts — all at left tackle, considered the most important position on the offensive line.
He retired in 1998 after finally earning a Super Bowl ring. His last game was the Broncos’ 31-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII.
