Item Description
Roaring Brook is located in Bradford Vermont. The camp property is a 650 acre private forest surrounding a 15-acre trout stocked lake. In this setting, 45 boys ages 9-14, live in Adirondack shelters with separate cooking areas for each group. The Main shelter houses craft stations and housing supplies. Also in lower camp are the blacksmith forge, playing fields, archery, and marksmanship ranges, ropes course and rock climbing cliff. The main kitchen, lake and beach are located in the upper camp.
The program allows for self-direction with a minimum of regimentation in the development of outdoor skills. Each boy selects his activities daily. This encourages self-motivation and responsibility for personal productivity in a small group setting. This program is specifically designed for each age group and is age appropriate for the youngest to the oldest camper.
The program features rock climbing, rappelling, bouldering, slacklining, a 16-element high ropes course, tyrolean traverse, blacksmithing, woodworking, leather work, fly-tying, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, marksmanship, archery, survival training, nature study and fitness.
The general outdoor skills program includes instruction in outdoor cooking, orienteering, toolcraft, marlinspike, woodman's skills, timber sports, outdoor safety, first aid and rescue.
