Item Description
A Pneumatikos Series #15, signed and framed limited edition 2 of 5 archival print, 16" x 20" by artist Virginia Fifield.
Pneumatikos refers to a “gift“ or “image of spirit.” Virginia Fifield is known for her large scale series of super-realistic charcoal drawings of nature subjects. Throughout her body of work are contemporary depictions of animals that emit an inner spirit. Fifield has the ability to draw you into their apprehensions, moods, desires, and inner beauty. Her work aims to initiate a deeper contemplation about our natural world and the relationship in which we coexist.
Fifield’s most recent solo exhibition was at Coral Springs Museum of Art. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Florida and internationally. She has won numerous awards including Drawing Magazine’s International Drawing Competition and the prestigious All Florida Exhibition and Competition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. In 2016, she was featured on PBS’s TV series ART LOFT. Fifield lives and works in South Florida where she serves on the Board of Trustees for the Art & Culture Center/ Hollywood and the Selection Committee for Public Art in Broward County. Her work is held in public and private collections internationally.
Originally from Canada, Fifield received her BA of Fine Arts at York University and studied Architecture at University of Toronto. There she exhibited in commercial and public galleries throughout Canada and was awarded Canada Council grants. In 1992 she moved to the United States and lives and maintains a studio in South Florida.
