Item Description
We asked our teachers what they needed the most for the coming years at Verdugo Woodlands and the answer was a new photocopier for the new building. The total cost for the purchase of the new machine and maintenance for the first year will be about $10,000.
Here is what our teachers had to say:
A copy machine is an essential teaching tool that all teachers use on a regular basis. We are a large staff of 31 teachers. We are currently running our copiers over capacity.
The common core standards and transitions in curriculum require teachers to use a wide variety of resources to provide the most effective lesson for each skill, including teacher created materials. These "Open Source" materials need to be copied for student use.
The only provided curriculum for all grade levels is workbooks for our new math program and the Wordly Wise books provided by WAVE. Teachers need to make copies to provide the students with curriculum in language arts, science, and social studies.
We are transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards and this point this is all teacher created or online Open Source (non textbook) materials.
Japanese Dual Language teachers create and have to run-off all of their own materials.
A new copier would allow the school to have a machine in the new building, which is a huge timesaver for teachers. This time saved can be better spent working with your children and planning lessons.
