Item Description

HHS Summer College Application Camp  Aug 20-23

Senior year has arrived...and is it going to be busy! Applications, scholarships, pictures, dances, athletic events, jobs, social life, and even actual high school classes take up more time than seniors seem to have.  This year will be filled with excitement, anticipation and joy.  It can also be filled with frustrations, anxieties and tears.  Instead of standing over your senior prompting them to meet deadlines and instead of agonizing over getting the essay written, let us help them get started early.  In an effort to help you ENJOY this milestone in your child’s life, Highlands High School will host our annual College Application Camp. The program runs 4 days for 3 hours per day.  That’s 12 hours of time, and seniors will leave camp with the following items complete: -The Common Application -Naviance Account Updated -An Academic Resume -The College Application Essay (Started or Completed) -A Prioritized Application/Essay Plan The most exciting aspect of the week will be the Essay Review. College representatives will conference with seniors on their essay.  This expert feedback will give seniors a first-hand viewpoint of whether their essay stands out or seems like one in a crowd. Other topics peppered throughout the week will be Choosing a College, You be the College Admission Counselor, Teacher Recommendation Letters, Financial Aid Overview, and Scholarship search. Last year this course got RAVE reviews from students and parents and spots filled quickly.

Item Special Note

This course is a part of the FTIS Summer Enrichment program and is taught by Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Schnitzler.  This program sold out last year quickly, and this will guarantee your spot.
