$50 credit towards KIDS & TEEN ROCK BAND WORKSHOPS at New Paltz Rock

May 5 - June 23, two 8-week workshops will run on Saturdays:

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm for ages 9-12

5:00pm - 8:00 pm for ages 13-17

Students will get to choose the songs they want to play, learn how to play them and ultimately put on a concert to perform them to a live audience!

The workshops not only provide the students with coaching on skills, technique, learning about music and meeting other lie-minded musicians, they also build confidence both in their playing and socially. It helps everyone learn how to work with others in creating a positive and respectful working environment. Skills that are important throughout life.

The best part however, is they get to feel the EXCITEMENT and RUSH of playing live, often for the first time in their lives! What could be more exciting than that?

So now is the time to bring out the inner-rocker in your child and give them an experience that will stay with them for years to come.

REQUIREMENTS

• Keyboards & Guitars; Be able to play basic major and minor chords without having music written out.
• (i.e. written as letters. e.g. C major, E minor, G7, etc.)
• Bassist must have knowledge of where notes are on the bass and have at least 1 year of lessons or equivalent.
• Singers must be able to sing in key and understand basic musical terminology. 
• Drummers must be able to maintain a beat for the length of a song. Preferably be able to vary the style of beat.
• Guitarists and bassists must have their own instruments.
• We provide amps, keyboards, microphones and everything else!
• NO PREVIOUS BAND OR PERFORMING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
