Item Description
Art project by Ms Hyman's (3-320) and Ms Yun's (K-219) classroom.
In partnership with the Whitney Museum of Art, these two classes joined together to study the artist, Laura Owens, and worked on an art project. The students studied Laura Owens' work through the lens of “Artists as Experimenters." The Whitney Museum exaplains that Laura Owens' "bold and experimental work challenges traditional assumptions about figuration and abstraction, as well as the relationships among avant-garde art, craft, pop culture, and technology." The students then collaborated on projects on which they experimented with various materials and approaches to create art. The students were challenged to use materials that are not typically found in an art room. This allowed the students to create their own, inspired art!
