A Private Tour of The Shubert Archive for a party of 4, date and time to be determined and confirmed with the Director of the Archive. The Shubert Archive is the repository for the records of The Shubert Organization. The tour will include an introduction to the history of the Shuberts and a look at the Archive’s collections which include costume and set designs, architectural plans, music, business records, correspondence and press materials. The collection has grown substantially over the years and continues to expand with contemporary Shubert Organization materials.
The Shubert Organization is America's oldest professional theatre company. Over the last century, the company has owned hundreds of theatres and produced hundreds of plays and musical. Today, the Shubert Organization owns and/or operates 17 Broadway theatres in New York City: Ambassador, Barrymore, Belasco, Booth, Broadhurst, Broadway, Cort, Golden, Imperial, Jacobs, Longacre, Lyceum, Majestic, Music Box, Schoenfeld, Shubert, and Winter Garden and six Off-Broadway venues.
Item Special Note
Special guidelines or restrictions: The tour must take place during the Archive’s office hours, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10:00AM and 5:00PM. Maryann Chach (Director) or Mark E. Swartz (Archivist) will make arrangements with the winner of the tour. (Please note that there is a flight of stairs—14 steps—to the elevator.)
