Be one of the very first to enjoy a table for SIX of wine tasting and food pairing at Bar Crenn, the long-awaited wine bar spinoff from chef Dominique Crenn, which will be adjacent to Crenn’s two-Michelin-starred Atelier Crenn. The bar is meant to "reflect the sensory experience of an elegant and antique French wine bar inspired by the lounges of the 1930s in Paris." In this vein, wine director Matt Montrose has assembled "a collection of the great wines of France, and beyond that channel our shared philosophy of environmental responsibility” Sharing the kitchen with Atelier Crenn, the food service will showcase a menu with an “homage to the classics of French gastronomy,” featuring recipes “donated” by renowned French chefs like Alain Ducasse, Guy Savoy, and a cadre of other three-Michelin-starred restaurants.
Item Special Note
The petite wine bar is going into a space formerly occupied by Cellar Door (3131 Fillmore Street), and shares a courtyard with Atelier Crenn. Karan Brady is behind the design, which Crenn says will be an extension of her home, with a warm, library feel, and chandeliers. “This is more than a wine bar, it’s my living room,” says Crenn. “It’s elegant and it’s warm and thoughtful. We want people to experience the best hospitality there, too.”
The new space will also serve as a starting place and end point for Atelier Crenn diners, where they can begin their meal with an aperitif, and finish with dessert and coffee. For those interested in a more casual environment, Crenn says the full tasting menu from Atelier Crenn will be available to a limited number of diners each night. Reservations for Bar Crenn will be available through Tock, and walk-ins will be available each night as well.
