Item Description
The various nests I make start from branches found on walks. I love discovering these gifts from nature where the whole process feels like co-creating. I also love the dance of shadows cast from the entwined branches. Each nest is different and some made with metallic leaf, colorful fabric, paint and papers. I love the way birds incorporate found objects whether plastic or fabric weaving them into their nest becoming new again. Inspiration surrounds us.
Item Special Note
I grew up on the Gulf Coast in south Alabama surrounded by artists and the most beautiful coast line. Nature always soothed my Soul and enchanted my heart. When I made New Orleans my home away from home over 20 years ago, I felt I belonged right away having fallen in love with the mysterious Crescent City as a young child on trips with my family. Part of the enchantment for me is the natural setting with the wonderful trees and wildlife, the creativity in everything and everyone, and the gumbo mix of cultures evident in the people, arts and architecture. The juxtaposition of decadence and decay. Beauty in the cycle of creation, destruction and recreation.
