Item Description
A wonderful collection of champagne and sparkling wines!
Langlois-Chateau Crémant de Loire Brut NV, Loire, France
Janis Robinson:
Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Fragrant, juicy and ripe - apple, redcurrant, rose petals and a toasted character on the nose. Classic, savoury and with good smoky length.
Charles Ellner Brut Carte Blanche NV, Champagne, France
Wine Spectator 91:
This lively Champagne is bright and balanced, with spicy mineral and graphite accents underscoring the poached pear, crushed black currant, toast and grated ginger notes. Crisp and lingering. Zesty finish.
Aubry Premier Cru Brut NV, Jouy Les Reims, France
Wine Advocate 92:
This contains just one-quarter each Chardonnay and Pinot; 45% Meunier; and a mixture of Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (a.k.a. Pinot Gris). Nearly half of it is reserve wine, and more than half of that from a solera going back to 1998. If that sounds like a recipe for delivering complexity, you’re right and won’t be disappointed! Bittersweet perfume suggestive of gentian and iris mingles with intimations of fresh lime and sea breeze that in turn manifest themselves on a seductively silken palate in both juicy, vivacious exuberance and mouthwatering saliva-inducement. A scallop-like sweetly saline and mineral amalgam takes hold in a vibrant finish that leaves me caught between the urge to linger and the urge to take the next sip.
Chateau Beaux Hauts En Tirage Extra Brut 1992, Russian River Valley, California, USA
Wine Enthusiast 91:
The fruit on this 18-year-old brut is largely gone, and what remains behind are complex tiers of toast, brioche, lees, roasted hazelnuts and vanilla. A fascinating sparkler, totally dry and very crisp in acidity. Delightful to drink, and should continue to evolve in the bottle for years.
Marc Hebrart Brut Blanc de Blancs NV, Mareuil Sur Ay, France
Vinous 92:
The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is fabulous. Lemon peel, white flowers, crushed rocks and mint jump from the glass. The flavors are classic Chardonnay, but there is a sense of volume here that is hugely appealing. Best of all, the Blanc de Blancs is a superb value. The Blancs de Blancs is a bit unusual, as 70% of the fruit comes from Mareuil, where Pinot is more common, while 30% of the fruit comes from Oiry and Chouilly. This release is 65% 2010 and 35% 2009/2008 juice. This bottle was disgorged in March 2014. Dosage is 8.5 grams per liter.
