Item Description
Founded by the owner of School of Rock Palo Alto, The Coder School uses a similar premise of combining collaboration and immersion with direct instruction by our Code Coaches™ to get your kids learning to code and rockin' their inner hacker in no time!
All camps are held at the coder school, a unique environment that provides a collaborative opportunity where kids work and code together and have a rockin' fun summer together! We've scheduled camps for both novice and intermediate coders from ages 8 and up, ranging from our beginner-friendly "Games Are Awesome" series to our intermediate camps, featuring Python and the ever-popular Raspberry Pi.
Check out the 2018 Summer Camp Schedule from The Coder School, Berkeley, located at 2093 Rose Street (between Shattuck & Henry, across from Safeway, at the north end of Gourmet Ghetto).
Choose from Games Are Awesome, Coding's a Snap, WebRox and more.
Get ready for summer camps! Coder Camps are run from 9am-3pm Mon-Fri.
Item Special Note
Valid for one student to attend 1 week of regular camp in 2018 only ($499 maximum value). Not valid for camp material fees, after care fees or other The Coder School locations.
All camps are 9am-3pm at our super cool Coder School Berkeley location. View 2018 schedule.
Be sure to check skill and age requirements for each camp, as different topics are taught at different levels.
All kids should bring their own water bottle and lunch daily (except Friday), as they will be escorted to Live Oak Park for lunch.
Kids code throughout the week and get an awesome (included) lunch on Friday, then demo their week's creations later that afternoon.
Camp Descriptions
Games Are Awesome (Ages 8-10): We'll be using cool drag n' drop languages like Scratch or Snap to create some awesome new and classic games! Aimed at our newbie and novice coders. Content will be different in Session A and Session B.
Coding's a Snap! (Ages 10+): We'll use Snap! (developed at UC Berkeley as a tool for teaching both kids and adults) to introduce curious tweeners to the world of coding through the use of animation, music and games! For our newbie and novice coders only.
WebRox (Ages 10+): Everything's about the web these days, and that's why Web Rocks! Code with all the base web technologies like HTML/CSS and Javascript, learn how the internet and file transfers work, and get your pages uploaded to our servers for public viewing! Novice or intermediate coders.
Python Startup (Ages 10+): We don't have a pet snake for our schools, so we'll settle for introducing you to Python, one of the most popular coding languages today. Start slowly or code fast, this camp is for our intermediate coders – no Python experience necessary!
Pi Jam (Ages 10+): Jam to the coolest credit card sized gadget, the Raspberry
Pi3 Explore cool stuff you can do with a tiny computer, which (depending on the instructor) may include controlling physical stuff like light sensors, Python with Minecraft or other fun stuff! Intermediate coders only, please.
