Item Description

A collection of four wines that will transport you!

Aubry Premier Cru Brut NV, Jouy Les Reims

Wine Advocate 92:

This contains just one-quarter each Chardonnay and Pinot; 45% Meunier; and a mixture of Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (a.k.a. Pinot Gris). Nearly half of it is reserve wine, and more than half of that from a solera going back to 1998. If that sounds like a recipe for delivering complexity, you’re right and won’t be disappointed! Bittersweet perfume suggestive of gentian and iris mingles with intimations of fresh lime and sea breeze that in turn manifest themselves on a seductively silken palate in both juicy, vivacious exuberance and mouthwatering saliva-inducement. A scallop-like sweetly saline and mineral amalgam takes hold in a vibrant finish that leaves me caught between the urge to linger and the urge to take the next sip.

Louis Michel Montee de Tonnerre 2010,  Montee de Tonnerre, Chablis

Vinous 94:

Simply put, the 2010 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is pure class. Gorgeous detail and pure nuance are the hallmarks. White peaches, lime, slate and crushed rocks emerge from the glass, but here, too, it is the wine's textural finesse that impresses above all else. A long, polished finish rounds things out beautifully. The Montée de Tonnerre is utterly impeccable from start to finish.

Michel Rolland Episode 1 2005, Haut-Médoc

Wine Advocate 93:

This is the first release of a special project of Jeremy Renard and the proprietor of Chateau d’Arsac in Margaux. Under Renard’s guidance, each year a single vineyard parcel from Chateau d’Arsac is completely controlled by a single, world-renowned winemaker. Michel Rolland launched the project, and he has been followed by other luminaries in the wine world. Rolland had the good fortune to benefit from an excellent vintage, and the result is a 5,000-case lot of sensational wine. The 2005 possesses a forward, voluptuous style, so it will have early appeal, but don’t discount its potential to last 15-20 years. It offers a dense ruby/purple hue along with a smoky perfume of sweet cherries, blackberries, roasted coffee, and a hint of tobacco leaf. There is a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, and wood in this complete, full-bodied wine. The finish lasts for 35-40 seconds. This beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years.

Vincent Girardin Corton Renardes Vieilles Vignes 2005, Aloxe Corton

Vinous 92:

Good dark red. Dark cherry and raspberry lifted by spices and stone. Juicy, bright and penetrating, with a distinct delicacy for the year. Dark cherry flavor complicated by spices, minerals and licorice. Firmly structured wine, and tougher today than the Epenots. Girardin finds most of these 2005s to be quite closed on the nose at present.

Burghound 91-94:

Fairly strong reduction can't completely hide the sauvage, indeed outright gamy character of the nose and this strong meat and feral quality continues onto the rich, full, serious and utterly delicious flavors that possess the best depth of this trio of Cortons as there is really lovely balance and energy on the long finale. Drink after 2015.
