Item Description
Four wines, four expressions - all top notch!
Caymus Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Napa, California
Wine Advocate 94:
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a beauty. Dense ruby/purple-colored, it is filled with creme de cassis fruit, supple tannins and an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel. The family believes in delivering exceptional pleasure and intensity to their wines, but they also have remarkable aging potential.
Clarendon Hills Hickenbotham Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, McClaren Vale, Australia
Vinous 92+:
Ruby-red. Slow-building, exotic bouquet of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, Cuban tobacco, violet and black pepper. Supple blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors gain depth with air, taking a liqueur-like dark berry turn but maintaining focus. Youthfully firm tannins add grip to the impressively long, juicy finish. Plenty sweet and seductive now but I'd give this some time in bottle to loosen up.
Concha y Toro Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, Puente Alto, Chile
Wine Advocate 94+:
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon is opaque purple in color. The nose delivers a splendid array of pain grille, smoke, pencil lead, espresso, and black currants. It makes a youthful entry on the palate with layers of black fruits, mouth-filling flavors, a plush texture, with plenty of ripe tannins to hold this big wine together. The finish is long and pure. The wine demands 8-10 years to show to full advantage and should drink well through 2032.
Tenute di Nozzole Il Pareto 2001, Toscana, Italy
Wine Advocate 92:
The 2001 Pareto, the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon, appears to be the best since the initial 1988 vintage, powerful in it expression of black currant fruit, sweet herbs, cedar, and graphite, sizeable and deep in flavor, muscular but already beginning to show some roundness and velvet on its intense finish. Drink: 2006-2018.
