Item Description

Bring your crew of up to six (6) to enjoy a weekend evening sail on the Chesapeake Bay. Sit back and relax or help rig the boat, steer, and set and trim the sails and enjoy a beautiful summer evening on the Bay. Summer evenings tend to be beautiful on the Bay, but can include some excitement with the occasional thunderstorm. Food and drink will be provided.

The boat will leave Annapolis around 4:00 pm and sail til sunset. No experience is necessary, but reasonable physical condition is important to maintain balance and move around the boat. Some physical exertion may be required.

This is a fully-equipped sailboat with a full galley and up-to-date navigation equipment. The boat meets all requirements for off-shore sailing. Must be scheduled and used before September 30, 2018.

Schematic is a J/42 www.jboats.com/j42-performance.

The boat is a 42’ sloop with a symmetrical spinnaker rig and is fully prepared for racing off-shore. It has raced out to Bermuda 4 times and has taken First in Class / 4th in Fleet in the Annapolis to Bermuda Race in June of 2016. She went through significant overhaul and was repainted in March-April of 2016. The boat has full electronic instrumentation, navigation, autopilot, AIS, GPS and Satellite communications.

Shorts and t-shirts is the appropriate dress, and soft sole no-skid shoes should be worn. Pay attention to the weather. It is generally a little cooler on the water. Be prepared to get a little wet from spray or possible rain. The boat has two cabins and a head so you can comfortably change clothes if necessary.

There is plenty of beer and water on the boat. Please feel free to bring any refreshments that you might desire. Please refrain from bringing glass bottles. Please take perishables with you at the end of the sail.

Donor: Bob and Maureen Fox
