Item Description
2014 Ram's Gate Roberts's Road Vineyard Pinot Noir 750ml
Item Special Note
Much of this site's terroir is defined by its location in the Petaluma Gap, where coastal winds from the Pacific breeze in, cooling the vines and preventing the fruit from ripening too quickly. Soils are alluvial, a gravely fan due to the presence of Copeland Creek boarding the vineyard to the north. The vineyard is managed by the Sangiacomo family, who has one of the longest legacies of grape-growing in Sonoma County -- beginning with 17-year-old Vittorio emigrating from Genoa on his father's advice. Here, the vines are trained in arched canes, which facilitate even ripening. Of Roberts Road, Winemaker Jeff Gaffner describes, "This site is arguably the most Burgundian of our entire portfolio, with distinct rose petal and lavender notes."
