Item Description
Six general admission passes to The Morton Arboretum.
At The Morton Arboretum, imagination lives, curiosity grows, and kids flourish in the Children’s Garden. Splash through secret streams, climb colossal acorns, and slide down giant tree roots all day long. Explore, learn, and play among trees and the natural world.
The Children's Garden includes two main garden areas: Backyard Discovery Gardens and Adventure Woods, linked by a Central Plaza. The three areas incorporate ten themed gardens, each with engaging and interactive activities that children will find irresistible.
Meander the twists and turns of The Morton Arboretum’s Maze Garden while solving clues about the surrounding trees and plants with The A-MAZE-ing Quest. the fun and educational quest offers visitors a way to explore the tall lush hedges and the plant rooms hidden within the one-acre labyrinth of the Maze Garden.
At the entrance to the Maze Garden, a new panel explains the Quest’s four different levels. Visitors begin by choosing a level and reading the first clue.
Inside the maze, adventurers will find eight brightly-colored audio boxes scattered throughout the garden, which contain clues about plant life at the Arboretum. By turning a hand crank and pressing one of four silver buttons, players bring the quest to life and each successive audio clue takes them deeper into the maze, directing them to the Sycamore Overlook, and beyond.
The final clue directs questers to explore the Arboretum, to visit the Children’s Garden or one of our internationally-recognized tree collections. “The A-MAZE-ing Quest is a family-friendly activity that is a great addition to our popular garden, said Katie VanMetre, exhibit developer at The Morton Arboretum. “The Maze Garden is traditionally one of the first stops Arboretum visitors make but there's also so much more to see here. We designed the Quest as a way for families to explore the beauty throughout the rest of our grounds."
As all good quests go, this one comes with a reward. Once players have reached the final destination, they can check-in using the Foursquare mobile app to receive a digital coupon - just show the coupon to the front desk staff at the Visitor Center to receive a temporary tattoo, each unique to the quest level conquered. Not a Foursquare-user? You can also claim your prize by telling the dront desk staff which final desintaion you visited.
The A-MAZE-ing Quest is free with Arboretum admission and is a permanent part of the Maze Garden, though components of the exhibit may change over time
