Item Description
Have a night on the town with two tickets to Merrimack Reperatory Theatre, located in Lowell, MA.
Merrimack Repertory Theatre has been Merrimack Valley’s professional theatre company since 1979, and is an integral part of Lowell’s identity as the cultural heart of the region. MRT produces vibrant, contemporary plays that explore what it means to be alive today, with a seven-show season that runs from September through May. Its intimate 279-seat theatre is easy to get to, with free parking. MRT is a cultural resource for its community and strives to remove barriers to access and build community partnerships.
Upcoming shows include:
Silent Sky: astronomer Henrietta Leavitt trades the comforts of her rural home for a job at the Harvard Observatory in Massachusetts. Her ambition leaves both her family and her new colleagues (women known simply as “computers”) perplexed. But with a single discovery, their views of themselves, each other, and the universe itself will be upended for all time. An incredible story of bold love, boundless determination, and the vast grandeur of the cosmos—an unparalleled treat for the heart, mind, and senses.
LOST LAUGHS: THE SLAPSTICK TRAGEDY OF FATTY ARBUCKLE: During silent film’s golden age, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle’s comedic genius outshone even Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton as Hollywood’s first million-dollar man. Then after one tragic weekend, he became America’s biggest villain. What really happened to him and Virginia Rappe? In the tradition of great vaudeville pairings, Aaron Muñoz is Arbuckle and Kristen Mengelkoch plays Keaton, Rappe, and a host of other characters. Big laughs and shocking truths—the line between comedy and tragedy is thinner than you ever imagined.
