Eight lucky couples, hosted by first and fifth grade parents Kate and Scott Dietzen at their home in Hillsborough, are in for a very Nueva evening of learning, exquisite wine, and a refined multi-course dinner!

The dinner’s focus is on genomics and disease and how TED Speaker Dr. Joe DeRisi, a pioneer in the field, is helping to solve the medical world’s most puzzling cases. This short talk will be for both laypersons and professionals!

Dr. DeRisi is a professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California San Francisco, and the Co-President of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. His laboratory develops and deploys technologies for solving difficult-to-diagnose patient cases.

Dr. DeRisi will be discussing his state-of-the-art technology in the context of several remarkable human cases, in addition to work he has pursued on animals as diverse as parrots, sharks, honeybees, and even snakes. If solving mystery illnesses through computational biology and genomics intrigues you, then this talk is for you!

While you are enjoying the discussion, your multi-course dinner will be served by Lauren Kiino and her catering staff. Lauren has experience working in the best restaurants San Francisco has to offer, including Chef de Cuisine at Delfina, Boulette's Larder, Coi, and The French Laundry. She partnered with Daniel Patterson to open the popular Il Cane Rosso in the historic Ferry Building.

The wines are a marriage of old-world expertise and new-world fruit, crafted by sixth-generation French winemaker Pierre Seillan. The utmost care is taken with every step of the viticultural and winemaking process, resulting in the most critically acclaimed wines ever produced in Sonoma. The wines are made for longevity, and can mature for 20-30 years.

Bonus for attendees: Each couple will receive a complimentary, private 90-minute tasting for four at the Vérité estate in Chalk Hill, Sonoma ($650 value). The tasting can be redeemed through the end of 2020.
