Item Description
This engaging, fun, hands-on week-long camp for teens runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Silicon Valley Community Foundation in Mountain View, CA and takes students from innovation inception to plan, culminating in a pitch competition. Not just for aspiring entrepreneurs, this program teaches innovative thinking and socio-cognitive skills translatable to all successful work and life in general.
With guidance, students will develop concepts that improve their school, community, or the world at large or launch a new product or service. Innovation Competition winner will be compensated up to $1,000 for approved expenses related to the venture and receive 25 hours in mentorship for a year from NIMBLE as part of our Greenhouse Program. This exciting week builds the successful mindset for work and life: creativity, empathy, and problem-solving. Experiential skills in teamwork, self-assessment, and communication are delivered in unexpected, fun ways such as improv, mindfulness, and negotiation scenarios.
Program led by CEO Mariette Wharton, Founder of National Institute for Mentoring Business Leaders & Entrepreneurs (NIMBLE). Mariette holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, has invested in over 60 early stage companies including as first co-investor in Ring (valued at $1.2b), has advised dozens of startups and in 2008 co-founded the first cloud video conferencing service with a successful exit.
