Item Description
Have you ever had a wonderful idea for an app, but didn't know where to start? Are you interested in learning more about how apps go from idea to execution? App Inventor is a free drag-and-drop programming environment that millions of people have used to create powerful Android apps. Second grade parent Professor Ellen Spertus will give a presentation to a class about App Inventor, lead a workshop, or give a private lesson of up to two hours. She will also inscribe and sign a copy of her co-authored book, App Inventor 2: Create Your Own Android Apps, which she will provide.
Professor Spertus teaches at Mills College and is one of the creators of App Inventor, which she worked on while a research scientist at Google, where it was developed and open-sourced. She has continued to contribute to the project since it moved to the MIT Media Lab (home of its sister language Scratch).
