Item Description
Tea Time! Be organized thanks to one of a kind project made with love by Mr. Hernandez's 3rd Graders! This wooden teabox was inspired by artist Henri Matisse. Each student selected a colored paper, cut an abstract design, and adhered it to the box.
Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) was a French artist, known for his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. This project was inspired by Matisse's 1952 work entitled "The Parakeet and the Mermaid". The original piece used gouache on paper, cut and pasted, and charcoal on white paper and now resides at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
