Bomba y Plena: Cultural Music Exploration Youth Workshops
Your child will explore music and movement in this 5-session Bomba y Plena Workshop. In Bomba y Plena Workshops, students learn Bomba songs, dances, rhythms, and beats along with Bomba history and its significance and place in Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean culture. Students also learn how to play cus, barriles (drums), maracas. The workshop is taught and directed by Shefali Shah, and Hector Lugo curates the music section of the class. Workshops meet at La Pea Cultural Center in Berkeley. Youth Workshop for Under 7 group (age 4+) meets Thursdays 4:00-4:50pm. Youth Workshop for Over 7 meets Thursdays 5-6pm. A $60 value.
