Located in Venice, California, home to world-renowned arts and tech scenes, we’re surrounded by innovation. To that end, we’re committed to producing inquisitive and engaged students by taking a “whole child approach” to education.
At Walgrove that means we give equal weight to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth of our students. We ask ourselves the following questions: Are our children confident and independent? Are our children learning the skills they need for the next steps in their education? Are our children good citizens? Do they feel safe and supported? Are they just and kind? Are they happy?
WE at Walgrove believe education is a work-in-progress; ever evolving just like our students. Learning comes from the process of problem-solving. Curious kids are motivated kids. We encourage questions, creativity and teamwork. We believe that supporting emotional and social growth goes hand-in-hand with academic success.
The Walgrove experience will lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
All donations to Friends of Walgrove go directly to providing the school with much needed support, programs, and staffing that is not supplied by LAUSD. This includes the following:
- Teachers’ Aides
- Studio Lab Program
- Physical Education Program
- P.S. Arts Program
- Musical Theater Program
- A free yearbook for every child every year
- Wildlands and Edible Garden maintenance
- Campus Beautification
- Teacher/Staff Appreciation
Program highlights:
Studio Lab is Walgrove’s own unique, progressive, and ever-evolving program.
It was started with the intent to provide students with a classroom where they can develop the necessary skills in today’s world: critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and, thanks to all of those: innovation.
The Walgrove Wildlands is an urban eco-lab, native ecosystem, and National Wildlife Federation Monarch Butterfly Way Station. Students can explore science, mathematics, writing, and S.T.E.A.M. in a constantly evolving environment.
