Item Description
Make a winning bid on these five exciting and educational kits for your budding young scientist!
Geeker Speaker Lab Make sound waves visible with this awesome device called a vibration speaker. It turns practically any surface into a larger speaker. The audio jack connects to standard audio output sockets. Stick the speaker onto a variety of surfaces and objects to find out which materials produce the best sound. Experiment to see sound waves ripple through a tray of sand, water, and other substances. With signal generating apps, you can experiment to visualize different sound wave patterns.
Space Farm Geeks in space! Explore what it would take to set up an extraterrestrial farm on another planet. Experiment with a nutrient gel to grow garden cress in hydroponic tubes without soil. In the greenhouse dome, grow the alien-like succulent Tiger’s Jaws (Faucaria tigrina). Find out what plants need in order to grow and how those things might be provided on another world. Geekstronaut figures tend to your space farm while it grows.
Hot Ice Crystals These amazing crystals form instantly out of a sodium acetate solution. They look like ice but they release heat upon formation. Use the solution to mold a beautiful crystalline polar bear and seal. Create an elegant crystal castle with shimmering spires. Learn about the chemical reaction that makes this happen.
Pixel Stitch Embroidery Design a pixelated picture and cross-stitch embroider it onto two pieces of felt using four colors of embroidery thread and a needle. Sew the two pieces together into a small bag, and secure it using an elastic cord loop and a cool button. Add colorful beaded accents to complete your creation. The kit also gives ideas to embellish everyday objects and recycled materials with colorful embroidered designs. Learn what computer screens and needlepoint pillows have in common.
Dohdles Dohdles are riddles made of dough! Exercise your imagination in this artistic and hilarious sculpting and guessing game for families and parties of three to six players. Create a Dohdle by sculpting the approximate shape of an object or living thing — or of a part of an object or living thing — with the modeling clay. You don’t have to be a skilled sculptor or artist: You should actually form your Dohdle in such a way that your opponents cannot immediately recognize what it is supposed to represent. Even if you’re all thumbs when it comes to sculpting, you’ll be able to make a Dohdle that has the shape of a hotdog, a ball, a mailbox… anything! You receive points during the game if you guess the exact word that your opponent’s Dohdle represents. You also receive points if the solution to your Dohdle is neither too easy nor too difficult for your opponents to identify — ideally solved after four rounds of guessing.
