Item Description
Gift cert for lunch to La Mediterranee and 2 tickets to Cal Shakes
If you love the taste of the mediterranean, you're in for a treat! Whether you come for breakfast, lunch, dinner or an afternoon coffee break, Levon and Garbis, the founders of Caf La Med, want you to feel as they do - that youve visited the Mediterranean for the breadth of a relaxed meal or sweet interlude. Most of their recipes are made fresh daily. Maybe that's why their patrons consider Cafe La Med a true Berkeley treasure! Then head on over to Cal Shakes, one of the most beautiful and unique settings imaginable to experience live theater! Located in the Siesta Valley between Berkeley and Orinda, their plays are set against a beautiful backdrop of rolling East Bay hills and summer sky. They have shows at 2 and 4 pm on select Saturdays and Sundays if you choose to make a date of it, but the ampitheatre is the most spectacular during their evening shows. For the first half of the play, watch cows grazing in the background, then the sun sets and you can hear owls in the treetops as you sip wine or hot cocoa as the moon and stars fill the sky--all while watching superb Shakespearean theatre! Bring a blanket, it can get chilly in the evenings. And many patrons come up to two hours early and picnic in the groves, sipping wine, eating cheese and crackers and enjoying their friendships. You can bring your own snacks, or there is a gourmet caf serving food, beer, wine, and more. There are plenty of picnic benches and other places to sit including a new Common Table for sharing food and conversation; museum-grade sculptural installations to explore; and free, 20-minute informational Grove Talks starting 45 minutes before each and every performance. Late arrivals to the show will be seated at an appropriate interval, at the House Managers discretion.
