Item Description
Winner will receive $25 worth of gift cards to George's Ice Cream and Sweets in Andersonville.
George's was established in 2009 and is owned by the Stotis family. Our inspiration for this shop is George Stotis, philosopher, thinker, Pappou and friend to many in Chicago. George was the proprietor of Andersonville’s own Chicago Recycle Shop which was located next door just north of the George’s Ice Cream and Sweets. Chicago Recycle was a staple in the Andersonville neighborhood for almost 30 years and a favorite destination for local actors, students and antique dealers. His business was vintage furniture and clothing but his passion was conversation. Whether you came to the shop to hunt for treasures or to see George, you didn’t escape without experiencing George’s passion for heartfelt discussions about philosophy, theatre, life and of course the stock market. Even a brief conversation with George was intriguing enough to bring you back for more. George always wanted to open a coffee shop or restaurant in the neighborhood so he could meet friends and enjoy wonderful conversations. As a tribute to his dream, the Stotis family hopes this café will be a place where people take the time to enjoy conversations over ice cream or dessert. Nothing fancy, just a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere to gather with old friends or meet some new ones.
George's Ice Cream and Sweets is located at 5306 N. Clark.
