If you're planning to be in So-Cal this summer, this one is for you! Kidspace, located near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, features two three-story climbing towers and more than 2 acres of outdoor arroyo-scape environments including 14 seasonal gardens and 10 exploration and discovery stations designed to encourage children to discover the excitement of learning while engaging in the creativity of play. Tip: they host school groups in the morning, so afternoons are not as busy. The Children's Museum of La Habra is an award winning, non-profit public museum designed for children ages 2-10. The musuem has 7 different interactive exhibits. Tip: Start at the art center to see what craft they have that day. When you are ready to leave, your craft will (hopefully) be dry. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is the largest natural and historical museum in the western United States. Its collections include nearly 35 million specimens and artifacts and cover 4.5 billion years of history. Make sure to check out their Dinosaur Hall, the Gem and Mineral Hall, and the outdoor Nature Gardens and Nature Lab! Tip: The Science Center is just a short walk away. The Leonis Adobe Museum, built in 1844, is one of the oldest surviving private residences in Los Angeles County and one of the oldest surviving buildings in the San Fernando Valley. Located in what is now Calabasas, California, the Leonis Adobe in recent years has operated as a living museum to the California ranch style of life. Visitors can step back in time to the 1880s by touring the barn and blacksmith shop. You are able to pet, feed, and observe ranch animals under supervision of museum docents. Fun fact: According to legend, Leonis Adobe is haunted, and was featured in the British paranormal television series Most Haunted in 2005.
