Item Description
Paso Robles is a wine region for the wild-hearted. The town El Paso de Robles (which means Pass of the oak trees) was co-founded by Kentucky outlaws Frank and Jesse James’ uncle Drury around 1869. Today, Paso Robles is still considered by many as the wine industry’s wild west, characterized by that same rule-breaking diversity and innovative spirit in which the town was founded.
Taste some of the best of the region with these three bottles:
Booker Vineyard 2014 My Favorite Neighbor (99 Points Robert Parker)
*Available to wine club members only. Waiting list for club membership.*
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate says:
"Hold onto your hats with this one, the 2014 My Favorite Neighbor Proprietary Blend will see 24 months in barrel, and there will only be a single cuvee in 2014. This insanely good barrel sample gives up serious, inky, yet pure notes of violets, licorice, black raspberries, creme de cassis and graphite to go with building tannin, a stacked mid-palate and blockbuster length. I'd like to have a case of it in the cellar."
"As I've commented in the past, the wines from Eric Jensen at Booker are some of the most impressive releases coming out of California."
Cass 2014 Reserve (92 Points Vinous)
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 9% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot, 2% Mourvèdre
"Opens with beautifully lifted aromatics of fresh spearmint, black cherry compote, sugar plum and hints of chocolate hazelnut crunch. A round, supple entry leads to a silky smooth mid-palate. Crème de cassis, blueberry reduction, cedar cigar box and toasted oak complement the baked black and ripe red fruit essence. Fine grained, age-worthy tannin provides structure to the persistent, juicy finish. Enjoy now until 2026."
Adelaida 2014 Anna's Red (91 Points Wilfred Wong)
"Offering a nice expression of the Rhône Valley in Paso Robles, the delicious and well-balanced 2014 Adelaida Anna's Red—a blend of Mourvedre, Syrah, Grenache, and a little bit of Petite Sirah—comes up flavors of dried fruit, sweet oak, and savory spices. The wine's powerful finish invites a pairing with braised meats." -- Wilfred Wong
