About Saint Joan

Three-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad (A Doll’s House, Part 2) stars as one of history’s greatest heroines in a major new production of Bernard Shaw‘s epic work directed by Daniel Sullivan (Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes). Set in 15th century France, Saint Joan follows a country girl whose mysterious visions propel her into elite circles. When the nation’s rulers become threatened by her popularity and influence, they unite to bring her down and she finds herself on trial for her life. This timeless and powerful play dramatizes the limits of an individual in a society dominated by overwhelming political and religious forces.

About Condola Rashad

Condola Rashad is a respected and talented actress who shines on the stage and screen.

Rashad can next be seen in this spring's Netflix film COME SUNDAY, premiering at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. The film reunites her with director Joshua Marston, and tells the true story of a renowned evangelical minister, Carlton Pearson (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who stirs up controversy with his revelation that there is no Hell. Rashad plays Gina, Pearson's wife. The film, based on a This American Life radio episode, is being produced by Endgame Entertainment's James D. Stern and This American Life's Ira Glass and Alissa Shipp.

Also this Spring, Rashad returns to the Broadway stage as Joan of Arc in MTC’s Broadway production of SAINT JOAN, George Bernard Shaw’s Pulitzer-winning work, directed by Daniel Sullivan (Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes). In 2017, Rashad earned her third Tony Award nomination for her role in Lucas Hnath's Tony-nominated new play A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2, where Rashad starred opposite Emmy-Award winner Laurie Metcalf, Academy-Award winner Chris Cooper and Tony-Award winner Jayne Houdyshell. Produced by Scott Rudin, A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 earned eight Tony Award nominations, including four acting nominations for Rashad and her fellow cast members.

In 2016, Rashad completed production on Academy Award-nominee Milcho Manchevski’s independent film BIKINI MOON, which tells the story of a documentary filmmaker and his girlfriend who take a charismatic but troubled woman (Rashad) into their home, turning their lives upside down.  Rashad also co-starred in Joshua Marston’s COMPLETE UNKNOWN opposite Michael Shannon and Rachel Weisz, and in Jodie Foster's MONEY MONSTER, opposite George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

On television, Rashad is known for her role as Assistant District Attorney Kate Sacker in Showtime's BILLIONS. The timely, provocative series is a complex drama about power politics in the world of New York high finance. Rashad is a series regular opposite Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti.  Previous television and film credits include a recurring role on NBC's SMASH and a star turn in the Lifetime remake of STEEL MAGNOLIAS, as well as appearances in SEX AND THE CITY 2, LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and THE GOOD WIFE.

Rashad began her career onstage and made a sensational debut off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club in Lynn Nottage’s 2009 Pulitzer Prize winning play RUINED. She was nominated for Tony Awards and Drama Desk Awards for her roles in Lydia Diamond’s STICK FLY and the late Horton Foote’s THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, opposite Cicely Tyson. In 2013, Rashad played “Juliet” to critical acclaim on Broadway, opposite Orlando Bloom’s "Romeo."

A graduate of California Institute of the Arts, Condola currently resides in New York.
