Item Description
Room 15's auction project was inspired by New York-based artist Bradley Hart, who creates pixilated, photorealistic pictures by injecting bubble wrap with paint.
After selecting a photo of Maria Montessori for the art piece, Room 15 used a customized computer algorithm to break up the pixels within the photo to mirror the layout of the bubble wrap.
The photo was pared down to 23 colors, and each color was separated onto its own layer. The piece was then divided into panels so it would be easy to see which circles matched each panel.
By using the color coding, the back of the bubble wrap and matching the color with dental syringes, the kids were able to fill the correct bubbles with acrylic paint.
