Item Description
From the photographer: I was stationed in an underground hide at Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. We had to arrive before sunrise and enter the hide – an old shipping container that had been retrofitted and buried next to a watering hole – to avoid scaring any wildlife that might choose to approach for a drink. Then it was a waiting game. During my time in the hide, a variety of wildlife appeared, including several bird species, antelope such as impala, kudu and eland, and smaller mammals such as squirrels and warthogs. But the elephants were the main attraction. Multiple herds and individuals came for a drink over the course of our two mornings in the hide, affording a unique chance to photograph the gentle giants from a "worm's eye view."
