Item Description

This auction is for 2 people, up to 3 nights, at this beautiful cottage in Monterey. We’ve had this property in our auction the last two years. Here are reviews from the previous winners:

2016

"I was the winner of the Airbnb Corral Country Cottage in Monterey. I just have to say this is an amazing place to stay and the owner, Susan, could not have been a better host. The B&B was beautiful! I will be staying there again in the near future. It was worth every penny. Susan's place is located on a hillside where you could just get lost in tranquility and a nice cup of coffee. I highly recommend Susan and her B&B for anyone wanting to slip away and be at peace with the world.”

2017

“We were greeted by Susan Needleman whose first order of business was to give us a tour of the property and introduce us to the animals. We were told which animals we could interact with and where to find their treats. The cottage is perfectly centered to enjoy all kinds of activities – from nature walks, to coastal hikes, to the Monterey Aquarium. We read ‘Cannery Row’ by Steinbeck during our stay and then were able to pay a visit to the actual ‘Cannery Row.’ My favorite activity, though, was sitting on the spacious porch birdwatching for hours, with the lamas and sheep grazing in the background. Delightful, peaceful getaway.”

It includes these delightful extras:

Hand feeding the owner’s llamas, sheep, and goats whenever you want!

Two guest passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium

A special gift basket (you won’t be sorry!)

The Space

Corral Country Cottage is a little guest house with 2 spacious rooms in Corral de Tierra. John Steinbeck referred to the area as “Pastures of Heaven” and wrote a book with the same name. The cottage sits above one of our pastures on 10 acres. The llamas and sheep are rotated between 2 fields and are right out the window. Yes, you can feed them if you want.

My chickens provide farm fresh eggs and the fruit trees and vegetable garden will provide seasonal produce for your pleasure. It is private, off the main road and warmer than the coast. We have lots of Red Shouldered Hawks as they nest on our property plus deer, quail, wild turkeys and many kinds of birds and butterflies.

The cottage is set up thoughtfully so you will have a pleasant experience. A full kitchen with teas, coffee, snacks, fruit, milk, granola, basic kitchen things, etc. The cottage has a large TV with Comcast and premium channels, high speed internet, Wi-Fi, Apple TV, games, books, etc. There are thick robes in the closet for your use. It has electric heat and a wood stove and heated throws. You pass our little corner gourmet Corral Market & Deli on the way if you care to pick up lunch, dinner or snacks. They have the best barbecue and wine tasting on Friday nights. We are a little piece of heaven in a busy world. Arrival and checkout times are very flexible.

Guest Access

Huge fenced private yard with lots of sitting areas. Chairs, tables, a hammock under an oak and barbecue with tools and briquettes. You can feed the llamas! A walking/running/biking trail is 1 mile down the road and is a local favorite.

Interaction with Guests

We live on the property out of sight yet close enough if you need something. We respect your privacy. You can always text me with questions. I will be most happy to help in any way to make your visit a great one. The cottage has maps and brochures of the local sights.

The Neighborhood

This is California country – rolling hills and oak trees with cows and wildlife. No street lights. It is close to town yet private and quiet. We have gorgeous sunrises and sunsets and usually a sky full of stars. The moon rises over the hill which is your view.
