From the Artist:
“I fell in love with the rich vibrant colors and intricate designs gracing buildings, textiles and artwork while I was in India. In India and elsewhere the elephant has long been revered as a symbol of good luck and good fortune. It also represents power, dignity, intelligence and peace. According to Indian mythology the elephant is one of the nine jewels that surfaced when the oceans were churned by gods and demons seeking the elixir of immortal life. Ever since, elephants have been considered precious, and must be preserved and protected. This inspired my artwork "Jewel of India."
