Artist Bio
Beginning in my teenage years, I have been creating work that has represented the bodies that I wished to become more visible. To me, my expression has always been about taking the things I felt and were my internal reality, and making them external, even if I was afraid to embody that myself. I studied art at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts public charter school in high school, and took art classes at Holyoke Community College within my liberal arts major. After I was in a disabling car accident, preventing me graduating from Umass, Amherst, and leaving me with a traumatic brain injury, multiple facial fractures, and visual impairments, I felt appreciative of my body in a totally new way. My work shifted, to embody an identity that I could express in truth, having come into a more intimate connection with myself. I became uncompromising of my identity, and started living my truth as a poly, queer, sex positive, intersectional feminist. I hope to reflect inclusivity and color, coupled with emotional openness in my work.
