Item Description
Join Presidio Trail Ambassador Diane Cassil, who also happens to be a Trustee and Parent of Alumna (Ashlynn '17), for a hike and history lesson about the Presidio, which was in constant use as a military post for close to two centuries. Today, it is both a distinctive national park site within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and a National Historic Landmark District. The Presidio features more than 60,000 trees and 24 miles of trails (don't worry, you won't explore ALL of them!).
On your 2 to 3 mile easy stroll/hike, you'll be joined by a Presidio Art Docent, who will highlight some of the amazing art "living" among the trees.
The Presidio is home to the largest collection of works by renowned site-specific British artist, Andy Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is famous for creating art from natural materials found close at hand and became fascinated with the complex interplay between city, nature, people and place he found in the park.
This event is open for up to 10 people with a lunch following the tour at Arguello, award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins' Presidio outpost featuring Mexican food and drink.
Friday, September 14th, 2018.
Item Special Note
Friday, 9/14/18. Up to 10 hikers!
