Item Description
Sasanian Frieze Motif Scarf from the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Brown and Black Pattern, wool blend. Cozy and chic! Comes in the Met gift envelope.
The unique oblong scarf recalls a sixth-century stucco frieze in The Met collection. The frieze is from ancient Ctesiphon, which flourished for over 800 years as the capital of the last two dynasties ruling the ancient Near East - the Parthians and the Sasanians. This frieze, among others with floral, geometric and figural designs, offers insight into the iconography and style of Sasanian architectural decoration.
